As critics of last night’s Obama speech try to draw connections between the current president and former president Ronald Reagan, the rest of the nation awakes with a newly invigorated sense of hope, and a drive to do better. Something Reagan wished he could have done for sure, but missed the mark by a long shot.

President Obama challenged an entire generation to stay in school last night, saying that dropping out “was no longer an option”, and receiving a long ovation from members of both major parties for doing so.

“You’re not only letting yourself down, but your letting you’re letting your country down.”

Obama then went on to set a 2020 deadline on lawmakers, parents, and educators for making the US the world leader in college graduates once more, the largest challenge since Kennedy promising a man on the moon, and equally as daunting.

The president used this speech to expand on the ideas he campaigned on. Sighting changes before the end of the year in health care, freeing up the credit market, expanding renewable energy programs, and ending the war in Iraq swiftly. They were goals requiring a high approval rating and a majority congress, both of which this president has.

Thee speech was also a “no nonsense” affair. The president spelled it out in real terms, and then handed it off to lawmakers, and the American people to see the hard work done.

Critics say that the goals are too lofty and the promises were empty. “How can he plan to do all of this and cut the budget?” Pat Buchanan asked after the speech on The Rachel Maddow show. “It’s just too much,” he added.

Well, there is room for cutting spending, as the president stated last night. “We have begun going though he budget line by line, a daunting task that will take some time as you can imagine. But we have already made cuts that will save $5 trillion over the next 5 years.”

This is where Obama differs from Reagan. Obama inspires and drives us to do better. We want to sacrifice for the greater good. Reagan, he promised much, but expected it just to come to the American people even though they had to do nothing to get it. Hard work yields results, and the president’s critics seem to have forgotten this.

Today Tom Daschle decided to no longer seek the job President Obama nominated him for, Secretary of Health and Human Services.  Okay lets not waste time guys.  I’m gonna break it down for you since I know yo have busy lives!

What:The subject here is the now DEAD IN THE WATER nomination for Tom Daschle to be our next Secretary of Health and Human Services.  That position will be department that someone will help to frame Health Care in the US and try to get everyone possible some type of Health Care Coverage as Obama says he wants!  Senator Daschle was a shoe  in for the position “EVEN AFTER” it was revealed that he had failed to pay over $100,000.00 in taxes related to the usage of a Limo that was provided to him by a health care lobbyist company.  Because there is gowning turmoil due to Obama nominees forgetting to or not paying taxes he decided to not be a distraction to the President’s agenda and he stepped aside today!

Who:The players in this mini-scandal are Tom Daschle, who is a ex-Senator and Senate Majority Leader from South Dakota and most recently a lobbyist for the Health Care industry, the President who nominated Daschle and most importantly, his totally inept and LAZY ASS transition team that didn’t take the time to properly vet the people that the president wanted in his cabinet and administration.

When:The error in Daschle’s taxes was revealed last week and he still would have been able to be confirmed but he was further hurt when another Obama nominee Nancy Killefer bowed out due the the revelation that she herself didn’t pay less than $1000.00 in post taxes related to household employees (maids, nanny’s, etc)

Why:Why does this matter to you you ask?   Well if you recall Obama ran on Change.  And to ignore a scandal, force congress to approve someone that they may want to object to, and welcome people into your fold that don’t obey the rule of law are all traits of the past administration and THEY ARE THEREFORE NOT CHANGE.  So in other words Obama has kept his word on Ethics and Change in this instance.  Even though he REALLY wanted Daschle to get the job since he supported Obama from the get go.  Ole well………………….

The President today signed three new executive orders meant to help out those hard working American folk that are NOT rich(who by the way make up 85% of American citizens)!

What these new Executive Orders Do:
1. Prevents tax payers dollars from going to reimburse federal contractors who spend money trying influence the formation of unions. (meaning the ones that try to stop unions from forming)

2. Lets workers be informed by their rights given to them under the The National Labor Relation Act by the businesses/federal contractors that they work for(cause sometimes the bastards wont tell you your rights)

3. lets an employee remain employed if a government contractor or vendor looses a contract and that contract merely change hands (why should you get fired because your boss underbid a job or embezzled money from the government on any specific contact)

Who will it affect: mostly anyone who works for a company that supplies, supports, or works for any government entity like the military, Pentagon, Federal agencies!

When:They were signed into order today

Why:What do you mean why ???????????? to help hard working Americans survive the DOG-EAT-DOG Corporate America Rules the World Bullshit!

In addition to the orders the he signed into effect there is the new appointment of Vice-Pres. Joe Biden as the new head of new Middle Class Task Force:

What:The Task Force is a major initiative targeted at raising the living standards of middle-class, working families in America. It is comprised of top-level administration policy makers, and in addition to regular meetings, it will conduct outreach sessions with representatives of labor, business, and the advocacy communities. The members of the task force will work with a wide array of federal agencies that have responsibility for key issues facing the middle class and expedite administrative reforms, propose Executive orders, and develop legislative and policy proposals that can be of special importance to working families.

Who:Members of the Middle Class Task Force include: Vice President Biden, Chair; the Secretaries of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Commerce, as well as the Directors of the National Economic Council, the Office of Management and Budget, the Domestic Policy Council, and the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisors.

When:The Task Force was officially initiated today January 30th, 2009.

Why:why does this matter to me you ask…………..Well……….are you rich? If you are and you don’t give a damn about anyone who isn’t then it doesn’t matter. But If you aren’t a Millionaire and aren’t SCHMUCK then this will likely effect you if the Task Force is successful in any way! Since this is for the regular people then that means you!

What:Obama signed three executive orders on Thursday. One being an order that states that the US will no longer torture terror suspects or foreign combatants!

Who:This order is meant to mainly be for out CIA and other agencies that are likely to interrogate foreign soldiers, terror suspects and any other MOFO who wishes to likely do us harm!

When:The order was signed by the President Thursday morning the 23rd of January, 2009!

Why:Why does this matter to me you ask? well if you are a soldier, marine, spy or other foreign service worker(or the family or friend of one) it’ll matter if we are violating the Geneva Convention if your ass gets caught over there somewhere. If we don’t follow the rules then they won’t either. Now I’m not saying we should NEVER EVER resort to those kinds of tactics…………… we just shouldn’t tell everyone like Bush was doing!

What:The subject here is the aforementioned Blackberry! The Presidents staff and the NSA(National Security Agency) wanted the President to give it up once he got into office and he’s been steadfastly refusing!

Who:the parties in this story are the new Pres(Obama for you schmucks who haven’t heard), his own staff and the NSA!

Why#1:The NSA want to get him to stop using it because they are worried that it can be hacked by spies from other countries and an even worse possibility conceived by some is that the REPUBLICANS get a hold of the precious info in it (cue the evil music…….)DUH DUH DUHHHHHHHH! But no one besides myself will actually say that part!

When:the decision about the precious hand held device came down yesterday after it was decided that he would be given a newer doubly encrypted Blackberry model or even the new Edge, which is a cross between Palm phones (like the Centro I use) and Blackberry’s!

Why#2?Why does this matter to you you ask. Well if you’re a national Security minded person the idea that the Russians or the Chinese could hack his phone from over the internet scares the shit outta ya? If you are a Democrat or Independent(If you don’t fall in those two categories you must leave this site now…….just kidding) then you worry that a rival party might get into his phone and find out some top secret party details (Get your mind outta the gutter Bill Clinton’s not in office anymore)! And finally if you use one of these smart phones yourself then your worry might be something like this:DAMN if they aren’t sure that they can protect the Presidents phone from getting hacked then is it possible that my boss might be able to find out that I spend most of the day in the office on Myspace, Facebook and shitty blogs like the one by that KNOWITALL Asshole BigSho. Or worse, that my wife might be able tov use it to hack  into my email and find out about the secret debit card I have to pay for my visits to that downtown “Massage Parlor“!  Good luck with that…………..

What:The general topic here s the pending appointment of someone by New York Governor David Patterson to replace Former Senator Hillary Clinton who is now the Secretary of State as of Yesterday. Kennedy had inserted herself into consideration for the seat after being lobbied to do so by several family members and friends.

Who:The involved and important parties in this story are Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F Kennedy (JFK), New York Governor Patterson, who must appoint someone to the vacated seat, of course the mystery person who will actually be appointed the seat this coming week.

When:The news that she ceased her efforts to be appointed the seat was released last night(January 21, 2009). the seat is actually expected to be filled by Patterson bu this coming Saturday!

Why:Why does this matter to me you ask?

well if you are a New York Resident you want that seat to be filled ASAP so that New Yorkers has it’s full compliment of Senators to fight for their rights and a fare share of the pie as far as that huge 850 Billion(ye I said BILLION) dollar stimulus plan that is expected to be put before congress in the coming weeks.

If you are a woman or anyone who would like some diversity in the Senate then you would like to see a woman or an minority ascend to the seat

And if you are like me you really want them to SHUT THE HELL UP about all the hype surrounding the seat, pick some DAMN BODY and get to work helping President Obama put this country back together again!
